* Dermaplaning *

Pre-Service Skin Care

  • 14 days before your service, avoid sun exposure (including tanning beds) and sunless tanning cream or sprays on the area to be treated.

  • 14 days before your service, do not wax or apply depilatory creams on areas to be treated.

  • 7 days before your service, discontinue the use of products with active ingredients. This includes but is not limited to: Retinol (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Vitamin A), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy acids), LHAs (Lipo hydroxy acids) and Benzoyl Peroxide.

  • 5-7 days before your service avoid blood thinners (e.g., Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc.)

  • 3 days before your service, avoid hydroquinone.

Post-Service Skin Care

  • Skin Cleansing: You''ll want to cleanse your face immediately after a dermaplaning treatment. You should cleanse the treated area(s) twice daily with a post-treatment cleanser. If using other cleansers, ensure that they are a gentle cleanser that will remove any debris or residue left behind on the skin's surface. Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleansers, which can irritate the skin.

  • Serums: After cleansing, apply a hydrating serum or treatment cream to the treated area(s).

  • Skin Care: Although SPF should be a part of your daily skin care regimen, after dermaplaning, SPF 30+ MUST be applied daily to the treated area(s) for a minimum of two weeks. 

  • Clients should avoid the following:

    • Direct sunlight exposure (including strong UV light exposure or tanning beds) and harsh skincare products such as retinoids or glycolic acids.

    • Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity, makeup, chlorinated water, and hot water within the first 24 hours.

    • Steam rooms and saunas 1 - 2 days after service.

    • Other facial treatments such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion 2 weeks after service.

* Chemical Peels *
Pre-Service Skin Care

  • 4 weeks before your service avoid direct sun exposure of any kind as well as tanning beds and self-tanning to the planned treatment areas for 4 weeks prior to treatment.

  • 7 days before your service, discontinue the use of products with active ingredients. This includes but is not limited to: Retinol (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Vitamin A), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy acids), LHAs (Lipo hydroxy acids), and Benzoyl Peroxide.

  • 7 days before your service do not tweeze, wax, use a depilatory, or undergo electrolysis in the areas you wish to have treated.

Post-Service Skin Care

  • Skin Cleansing: Avoid washing face or treated area for at least 5 hours after the peel. Preferably, you should wait until the following morning. The day after the peel, wash face or treated area gently for 30-40 seconds with a cleanser recommended by your esthetician.

  • Skin Care: Hydrating Creme may be applied three times daily or more often if needed. Sunscreen may be used only once the skin has healed.

  • Clients should avoid the following:

    • Rubbing, scratching, peeling, or picking the skin with your fingers while healing.

    • Alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, and other potentially irritating products until the skin is healed.

    • Direct sun exposure, running water directly on your face while showering, strenuous exercise, and sweating until skin is healed.

    • Procedures such as facials, hair removal, microdermabrasion, and lasers until skin is fully healed.

* Microdermabrasion * 
Pre-Service Skin Care

  • 6 months before your treatment, discontinue the use of Accutante.

  • 1 day before your service, discontinue the use of glycolic and Retin-A type products.

  • Clients who are prone to Herpes (cold sores, fever blisters) may need a prescription for Valtrex (acyclovir) from WSHH prior to having microdermabrasion and should avoid service during a breakout.

Post-Service Skin Care

  • Skin Cleansing: You may wash your face the following morning using the products recommended by your esthetician.

  • Skin Care: Please discuss continuing use of your regular regimen post-treatment. Clients should wear sun block of at least SPF 25 over the treated areas on a daily basis during service series.

  • Clients should avoid the following:

    • Glycolic and Retin-A type products the 1-3 days following service.

    • Sun exposure, where possible.

* Hydrafacial * 
Pre-Service Skin Care

  • 2 weeks before your service, refrain from any chemical peels or lasers.

  • 1 week before your treatment, avoid excess sun exposure, including tanning beds and use SPF 30 or greater daily to ensure coverage against UVB and UBA rays.

  • 2 - 3 days before your treatment, discontinue the use of Hydroquinone.

  • 2 days before your treatment, discontinue the use of exfoliants and tretinoin type products (Renova, Tretinoin, Retin A, Retin A Micro, Tri-Luma, Solage, etc.).

  • Notify the center if you develop a cold sore, acne, open lesions in the area being treated, or experience any type of illness before your service.

Post-Service Skin Care

  • Skin Cleansing: You may wash your face the following morning using the products recommended by your esthetician.

  • Skin Care: Please discuss continuing use of your regular regimen post-service with your esthetician. Makeup may be applied the day after treatment. Clients should use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily for 3-5 days following service.

  • Clients should avoid the following:

    • Any exfoliation to the area for 48 hours following service.

    • Heat sources, including hot showers, saunas, and cardio workouts that may produce sweat for 24 hours following service.

    • Topical Retin-A for 2 days following service.

    • Avoid unprotected sun exposure and/or use of tanning beds for at least 3 days following service.
